A Little About Me...
I, along with many was extremely skeptical about chocolate being healthy....Sure I knew that dark chocolate was more or less better for you, but I personally did not care for dark chocolate.
Like many, I enjoyed milk chocolate. Well, did you know that the reason milk chocolate tastes so good is because of the added sugars, waxes and other additives to make it enticing. I, for one, never thought that I would enjoy the Xocai healthy chocolate, but since I love chocolate, I decided to taste it....
But, let me tell you, although I enjoyed the taste....and that is amazing because like I said, I didn't like dark chocolate or so I thought. Never did I realize that Dark Belgian Chocolate was soo delicious. I still had reservations and wasn't quite convinced until I researched it further..
Some of the research I did will be included in my blog posts, so you won't have to use up your precious time. Being a doctor, I had to know the benefits and truly understand before I could wholeheartedly endorse this delicious product...
Well, after the research and of course consuming it for over 2 months, I was completely amazed!!! Not only did I enjoy the consumption of this healthy chocolate 3 times a day, I actually felt more energized. Not the energy that lasts only moments but one that lasted throughout the day....it was a euphoric energy. I slept better at night and did not toss and turn like in the past... I actually lost over 10lbs while consuming chocolate!! Now, where have you ever heard that claim??? Dark unprocessed cacao is a natural appetite suppressant and while consuming this decant food; I no longer craved the bad chocolate!!
I still maintain a healthy diet and consume this wonderful chocolate on a daily basis. I have a wonderful sense of serenity and can be assured that my body is not breaking down as it was before. With the loaded antioxidants contained in these wonderful products, I can enjoy chocolate without the guilt.
Now, my children consume this wonderful chocolate and they don't feel the need to eat the junk food they once consumed. The Healthy Chocolate actually satisfies their cravings and that makes my husband and I very, very happy.
In my next post, I will share more about the research and the products that Xocai offers.....
Until then,

The Antioxidant Craze
But exactly what does it mean?? And how does it help our bodies??
No matter how healthy we are or what kind of environment we live in, our body is exposed daily to a cellular process called oxidation. In the human body, oxidation causes the damage of healthy human tissues on a cellular level. But, worse yet is that today our bodies are exposed to above average levels of free radicals due to environmental toxins.
Sources of free radicals include cigarettes, alcohol, pesticides, environmental chemicals, contaminants in the air and water, antibiotics in dietary meat and dairy products, radiation, high-fat diets, sunlight exposure and even exercise.
With time, this damage results in what is called aging and can put our health at risk.
When we refer to oxidation damage, we are typically referring to something called 'free radicals'. Free radicals, are unstable and highly reactive in the body. Experts estimate that every cell experiences ten thousand free radical attacks each hour of every day. If that sounds serious, it is!! The results are horrifying: DNA damaged by free radicals can cause cells to replicate incorrectly, therefore interfering with the proper cell function and often resulting in cell death. Over time, these mutations cause aging and may lead to cancer or other chronic diseases.
Some of the following have been directly linked to free radical damage:
- Heart Disease
- Arthritis
- Cataracts
- High Cholesterol
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Lung disease
- Fibromyalgia
- Cancer
- Diabetes
- Alzheimer's/dementia
- Inflammatory bowel disease
The research linking free radicals and diseases continues to grow steadily. In fact, some experts estimate that more than 80% of debilitating disease is related to the effects of free radicals.
Some of the foods that are rich in anti-oxidant levels which are measured in ORACs (oxygen radical absorption capacity).
- Cocoa, unprocessed
- Chocolate, dark
- Acai berry, fresh
- Acai freeze-dried powder
- Purple cabbage
- Kale
- Spinach
- Blueberries
- Broccoli
- Red pepper
- Carrot
- Tomato
The antioxidant capabilities of chocolate and acai have grabbed the attention of numerous research teams around the country. The antioxidant contents of both have been scrutinized, and continue to be the focus of a number of ongoing studies. Researchers have found that chocolate and acai are very high in several antioxidant compounds, including polyphenols, flavonoids, anthocyanins and catechins.
In my next entry I will continue to compare antioxidant levels in the many products that are out in the market today.
Yes, Chocolate Can be Healthy!!!
We as a society have been indoctrinated into thinking that chocolate is bad for us... oh it is very good tasting, but bad nonetheless....
Chocolate is a product that always manages to get attention because so many people enjoy it. In fact 9 out of 10 people crave chocolate, 50% can't live without it and the average American consumes 12 pounds of chocolate per year!!!!
There have been recent revelations about the health benefits of dark chocolate; it is all over the news. It turns out the cocoa bean is the highest antioxidant food on the planet, higher than any other fruit or vegetable. With all the talk about the importance of antioxidants, this is a big deal.
The challenge is it takes heat to turn the cocoa bean into chocolate. The heat manages to destroy many of the antioxidants, flavenoids and phytonutrients in the cocoa bean.
The company called MXI has found a way around the heat!! We have a healthy, rich, dark Belgian chocolate that is processed using a patented cold processing technology. We have secured the world wide exclusive rights to this unique patented chocolate.... There are no fillers, caffeine, waxes, refined sugars or bad fats. And it tastes absolutely delicious!!!!
Raw unprocessed cacao is getting alot of attention because of its natural anti-inflammatory properties. The catechins and epicatechins in chocolate have been associated with lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, strengthening the blood vessels as well as other cardiovascular breakthroughs. The other properties in cocoa have been known to help diabetes, depression, macular degeneration and so much more.
Our products top the charts in antioxidant levels. Yes, there are many products on the market advertising the amount of antioxidants they contain. But our product contains not only the unprocessed cocoa, but it also contains the infamous acai berry as well as blueberries.
I will explain the differences in my next posting, so be sure to come back and learn the differences. Our chocolate is indeed healthy and you will want to be a part of this great company as well.
